TPS7A47: SENSE, OUT pin Absolute maximum ratings

Hello,

Are there any problem if there is 0.7V voltage on the SENSE and the OUT pin when the IN and the Enable pin input is 0V?
Since the SENSE and OUT pin absolute maximum voltage is -0.4V to +36V, I think that there is no problem.
If there is no problem, is there no ESD protection diode between SENSE / OUT and VIN?

Hi Ryuji-san,

You are correct in that there is no problem if there is 0.7V on SENSE and OUT when VIN and the ENABLE pins are 0V. Based on the fact that absolute maximum Pin voltage ratings are all with respect to GND, it does not look like there is a Diode between VOUT and VIN. But Let me double confirm with the design team.

Hi Ryuji-san,

I talked to the design team about your question. The TPS7A47 uses a PNP bipolar pass transistor, and the emitter-base junction will block reverse current from Vout to Vin. Vout to Vin drop of 0.7 V is ok.

Please limit the Vout to Vin drop to around 2 V. The emitter-base junction of the pass transistor can break down above 2 V, at which point the pass transistor will conduct reverse current.

OUT pin to GND pin : -0.4V to 36V
OUT pin to IN pin : -0.4V to about 2V
