Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25100
I'm running the bq24032A at charging currents Io(BAT) less than 100 mA. Although the datasheet says K(SET) may be anywhere from 300 to 600 at low currents, it also notes that the specification is for monitoring charge current during voltage regulation mode, not for determining reduced fast-charge levels. But I want to determine a reduced fast-charge level!
Using equation 5: Io(BAT) = V(SET) * K(SET) / RSET to find the charging current, I need to know the possible range of Io(BAT) that the IC might develop at low currents for a given value of RSET. Should I use the same range of K(SET) that's stated for Io(BAT)>100 mA, that is, 400 to 450?
When testing on an EVM, I found K(SET)~427 made an excellent fit for currents ranging from 11 to 250 mA. That's almost spot on the nominal value of 425 stated for high currents, leading me to suspect that maybe 400-450 is the appropriate range to use, even at low currents.
