Can  BQ34110 and BQ34Z100-G1 independently work to do cell balance and gauge without  Battery monitor, protection & Authentication solution IC such as BQ76940 or BQ76PL455

  • Hi Siva,

The bq34110 and bq34z100-G1 monitor the stack voltage and current of the pack, not the individual cell voltages.

So for gauging, yes, these are strap-on-gauges that allow for gauging of the battery pack and reporting of state of charge either through a LED based readout or digitally to a a microcontroller/processor.

For cell balancing, no, another device such as the bq76940 or bq76PL455 would be required.

The bq40z50-r2 may be of interest, depending on your chemistry and stack voltage. The bq40z50-r2 provides per cell gauging and balancing for Li-Ion/Li-Polymer and LiFePO4 cells up to 4S.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
