BQ25504: Mechanical energy harvesting solution for car's hub

Part Number: BQ25504
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25570, BQ25505,

We are going to design the evergy harvesting board for car's hub to provide power supply to the TPMS module. We found TI energy harvesting IC(BQ25504/BQ25505/BQ25570) used in the Solar and TEG harvesting, but no any document  show the application for mechanical energy harvesting, such as the electric generator. So we want to know whether these solution(BQ25504/BQ25505/BQ25570) can use for mechanical energy harvesting on car‘s hub?or the other better solution?any total solution for this application  can be promoted to us?

  • Yulei,

Depending on the output voltage from the harvester, it can be used in this application.

I have seen a few piezo harvesters for TPMS but typically they are higher in voltage. Please check the voltage rating on the harvester element.
