BQ76PL455A-Q1: GUI "Unable to open COM port" even it's in device manager

Hi,

I have a EVM board with serial-to-USB connection. The appropriate COM port is selected but the GUI complain unable to open COM port.

My question is

- is the board powered? I fake battery connect to EVM board. If not how to power EVM board other than USB power?

Hi Dick,

There should be a minimum of 12V on the TOP pin, and VIO should be supplied with either 3.3V or 5V. If these supplies are not present the board will not turn on.

So if it is a base device, we typically see customers take power from the same supply as the MCU supply. For a stacked device flip the switch next to the UART header and supply VIO from VP.
