TPS65911: TPS659114 protection behavior

Part Number: TPS65911

Hi

I would like to know the behavior when the protection (OCP and Thermal and other abnormal state ) is active.

OCP : each output is disable when the each OCP point is triggered.

Thermal shutdown : device (all output) is disable.

Is this correct? (Is there any other protection behavior to be disable each output?)

  • Hi Hamamoto-san,

    thank you for your interest.

The device TPS65911 has over current protection. In case of an over current at an output, only the output that has seen over current will shutdown in this event. The other functions and output voltages are not affected and remain to function.
For instance, if LDO2 sees a current higher than its current limitation. Then only LDO2 will shut off and is protected. All other output voltages are not affected by this event. I have just confirmed this behaviour in the lab.

The device has thermal protection, where in case of thermal shutdown all outputs will turn off. Please refer to chapter 6.11 or page 60 of the datasheet.

I hope this answers your question. Please let us know if we can be of further help.
    Kind Regards
    Kevin
