TPS2660: Fault status with Latch-off

Hi

Is it possible to set all fault events as latch-off type for TPS2660x family if a 402Kohm resistor is connected between MODE and RTN pins?

BestRegards

  • Hello,

Connecting a 402Kohm resistor from MODE to RTN will make latch off during current limit fault.
On other faults, such as over voltage, under voltage, reverse current etc, it does not latch off.

Could you please let us know why this requirement arises?

    Regards,
    Kari.
  • HI Karikalan

    Thank you for your reply.

Because I got the following on the datasheet P. 23 9.3.5.3 FAULT Response.

    9.3.5.3 FAULT Response
The FLT open-drain output asserts (active low) under following conditions:
    • Fault events such as undervoltage, overvoltage, over load, reverse current and thermal shutdown conditions

    >On other faults, such as over voltage, under voltage, reverse current etc, it does not latch off.

Is there way to know what fault event is occurred?

  • Hi

Current limit fault can be distinguished from other faults by looking at the IMON pin which provides the mechanism to know how much load current flows.

But to distinguish other faults, discrete circuit or supply voltage monitors separately is needed.

    Kari.
