TPS4H160-Q1: Thermal swing shutdown threshold Question

Part Number: TPS4H160-Q1

Datasheet Page 8--Thermal swing shutdown threshold (1)  60?   If the swing is +/60 ,then the  Thermal shutdown threshold  will become  100(160-60) <  threshold< 235(170+60), so large range will make no sense when Design . How we can understand the "Thermal swing shutdown threshold (1)  60" , Please help explain it ASAP for evaluating it now. Thank you!

  • Hello,

Thermal swing means difference between internal control circuit and FET temperature. At any temperature, if the FET temperature is 60C higher than the control circuit' s, the device shuts down.

If the junction is at thermal shutdown threshold  175 typical, the device shuts down regardless of the thermal swing.
