LM3478: Datasheet says peak driver current is 1A while the product page says switch current limit is 10A

Part Number: LM3478

Datasheet says peak driver current is 1A while the product page says switch current limit is 10A. Screenshots provided below. Is that an error or are these two different values if so some clarification would be helpful.

  • Hi Ashish,

The driver current in the datasheet is talking about the MOSFET driver that is internal to the LM3478. This will affect how fast the external MOSFET is turned on.

The switch current limit is the typical value of of the low-side switch current in the application. Since this is a controller the current can be higher than this since external components (MOSFET, Current Sense Resistor, Inductor) are selected by the user.

    Thanks,

    Garrett
