    Let me see if we have anything.  I can give you a short answer though.  Years ago, dc/dc converters were designed completely using discreet components.  Eventually the PWM controller was integrated into an integrated circuit with external switching transistors and passive components.   SWIFT is a trademark name meaning "Switcher With Integrated FET Technology.  SWIFT devices took another step in integration by having the high and low side switching FETs on the same monolithic silicon as the controller.  Only external passive components need be added for a complete solution.
