low Iq 3.3V LDO selection

Dear,

Our ctm want us to select a low Iq ,3.3V, 10mA+ LDO that has the similar Iq and package with TPS78233DRV.

The input voltage is 2.8V~3.9V;

The request is:

When the input voltage is lower than 3.3V, the output is the same with the input voltage and the Iq is still very low.

When the input is higher than 3.3V, the output is 3.3V.

Could you give some advice?

  • Hi Sundy,

    Unfortunately Ignd increases as the LDO is in dropout (particularly when Vout is close to the set regulation voltage) as the LDO attempts to reach regulation. From your requirements it looks like you have a battery application and are attempting to maximize the batterylife. Applications such as these can normally benefit from a buck/boost in front of the LDO. While this may add some complexity, you are able to maximize your battery life by keeping the LDO out of dropout. Also the PSRR of the LDO will help clean up the switching frequency of the buck/boost.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
