We are using 4-wire (VCC,GND,Clock,Data) PWM LED driver chips. They are the standard protocol for 4-wire systems. Unfortunately, these chips, even though they have very fast clock speeds, are PWM and they flicker especially at distances of 2000 feet or more.
You look at these displays and move your head from side to side and the LEDs turn into multiple streams of little dots through the "persistence of vision" effect.
It's time we switch our displays to linear drivers but we need the same kind of compatibility. We need linear chips that follow the same standardized 4-wire protocols for the PWM chips.
What can you suggest?!
Thanks!
