Hi,
I have built 7 prototypes which use the TPS61090.
Some them have issues with the TPS61090:
1) A couple of boards got a short circuit at battery pins. Since the device is still on board, I am not sure which pin is shorted.
From other answers in this forum, the short may be caused by ceramic output capacitor placed too far from the device which damages the chip. I don't think this is my case. I attached the circuit diagram and the PCB I have designed.
Is the LBO pull-up resistor too low? Should C5 be ceramic instead of tantalum?
What may be other causes of the failure?
2) One of the board works but the output voltage is 3.7v. The boost converter powers a measurement device (which drains max 30mA) and a small fan (which drains 120mA). If the fan is disconnected the voltage gets 5v. The fan driver circuit appears fine. Apparently the TPS61090 is damaged.
Because the chips are soldered by hand, may these issues be caused by improper mounting or because chips got damaged during the soldering phase (overheating)?
Thank you very much for your support.
