LP8860-Q1: About VDD of LP 8860A

Part Number: LP8860-Q1

Hello,

My customers have question.

If the customer prefers to reprogram on assembled PCB, LP8860A is 3.3V,

is that ok to have LP8860A work with 5V Vdd ?

(After EEPROM writing, it is used for VDD = 3.3 V setting, so it is only temporary time before writing.)

Is it OK to insert VDD = 5 V with Charge Pump function = On?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

VDD of LP8860x can support 5.5V regardless of charge pump operation.

So your application will be safe.

If you can control power supply individually, don't supply Vin while you program EEPROM. Only supply VDD and VDDIO/EN inputs for the programming.

If you don't have a control for VIN during this programming, please make sure brightness input to be 0%.

Also be careful not to cause any power fluctuation higher than 5.5V during transition from 5V to 3.3V or the other way around for VDD input.

    Hope this helps,
