TPS92515HV-Q1: TPS92515-Q1 Application Question

Part Number: TPS92515HV-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92515-Q1

Hello team,

1. May I know minimum off time 230 us of TPS92515-Q1 is right?
according Dmax = 1 - ( toff x Fsw) calculate output limitation result something wrong? why

2. Consider reduce inductor size to modify EVM Fsw from 120kHz change to 1.8Mhz.
As the input voltage is increased the switching frequency goes up. When switching frequency exceed 2 MHz, output current will disappear current regulation! looks linear increase output current, why?

Currently we modify EVM R1 to 31k ohm and L1 to 10uH.
Output 6.3VDC / 2A, Fsw 1.27 MHz @Input voltage 12VDC
Output 6.3VDC / 2A, Fsw 1.8  MHz @Input voltage 16VDC

  • Hello Kuo,

For the Dmax equation you use the toff you set yourself with R1, not the maximum off time.

When the frequency gets too high, particularly with higher input voltages, you will hit the minimum duty cycle at some point (Dmin is dictated by the minimum ON time versus switching frequency) and it can no longer regulate.

Yes, you can modify the EVM like that and it should work fine.

    Regards,

    Clint
