My customer has two questions.

1. Do you check following items on final or probe test?

* Current limit

* Thermal shutdown

2. What is minimum value for Junction shutdown temp?

Hi Tetsuro,

Current limit is tested at final test. Thermal shutdown is not feasible to test at final test; however, we expect a +/- 5% tolerance on the typical number provided.

Sorry for my additional question.

Regarding Junction Thermal Shutdown, how can you guarantee its functionality without test?

For example:

*The function is not tested directory but other test item can cover it.

*TI confirms chance failure of the function does not happen by FMEA or similer way

*ect...

Hi Tetsuro,

Thermal shutdown functionality is guaranteed by design. We also confirm functionality during our validation of the device family pre-release.

Even the functionality is quaranteed by design, it potentially happen mulfunction because it is not tested.

What failure late are you expect for the function?

It is enough for Automotive quality?

Hi Tetsuro,

We are unaware of any LDO with production test coverage of thermal shutdown. This is a fault protection that's functionality is guaranteed by design and both verified by simulation and validated by bench measurements pre-release of the LDO.
