TPS40425: about rising waveform

Part Number: TPS40425

Hi

My Customer has question.

When the customer check the rising waveform, customer found an interesting point.
Currently this waveform is not a problem,
Will not you get advice on whether this waveform is working properly?

It is used in 3 Phase configuration of TPS40425 × 2 + CSD95378 × 3.

  • Hello,

The small shaking at the beginning of soft start is a known behavior. It is normal.

At TPS40425 multi phase configuration, the current sense signal from power stage (CSD95378B) is applied to control loop for current balance purpose. When soft start begins, the power stage needs a few switching cycles to make the current sense signal follow inductor current correctly. Because the current sense signal during first several cycles does not follow inductor current well, it causes a glitch on COMP voltage, and as a result, a small shaking is observed on Vout.

It is difficult to eliminate this small shaking completely. I would suggest to let it be there as long as it is not a problem to the load.

    Thanks
    Qian
