LM5170-Q1: About using LM5170-Q1

Part Number: LM5170-Q1

  • Is it possible to replace high-side MOSFET by a diode and directly connect DIR to AGND for boost-mode-only operation ? Provided that I don't use circuit breaker and make LM5170-Q1 skip initial fault checking by placing a 10k-ohm resistor across SYNCOUT and AGND.
  • If I have Vcc = 10V, is it possible to use a mechanical switch to close the Vcc to a voltage divider that will provide 5-V signal to EN1 and EN2 pins for channels enabling ? This is to avoid using MCU.

  • Thank you for considering the LM5170-Q1 in your application.

Yes, you can replace the high side by the diode. Adding a 10k resistor across SYNCOUT and AGND will skip the fault detection.

Yes, you can do that. Just note that the mechanical switch may bounce. The EN1 and EN2 has 2-us (typical) glitch filters.
