TPS25944A: several questions about TI eFUSE ICs (TPS25944 & TPS25942)

Part Number: TPS25944A

Hi,

Please let me know the answers of below questions.

1. Seems to have Reverse voltage protection but reverse polarity is not supported. Am I right?
2. Identify the exact differences between Circuit Breaking and Current Limiting.
3. Auto Retry is not a problem with UL authentication? (I've used PTC before and it's been a problem for a certifier.)
4. In the case of Latch Type, will it work again when Input Load is removed?

thanks,

TS

  • Hi Yang,

Can you share system/functional requirements and where exactly you are using the device in your system. It helps to suggest suitable variant.

1A) For Reverse Polarity Protection you need to use additional diode as shown in Figure 86 of datasheet
2A) The main difference is during over current operation. The circuit breaker device serves only for 4ms in over current condition
3A) Both Auto-retry and latched variants are UL certified.
4A) For latch type, the device needs i/p voltage reset or EN reset to start again.

    Best Regards
    Rakesh
