TPS546C23: Safe Operating Area

Part Number: TPS546C23

Hi

My Customer has question.

TPS 546C23 has a graph of "Safe Operating Area".
Is there a graph of the following conditions?
Vin=12V
Vout=5V
SWF=500kHz
If not data, is it possible to have it measured?

Best Regard

T Kishi

  • Kishi-san,

    The graphs in the datasheet are what we have.  The SOA is more dependent o the input voltage and frequency than the output voltage.  We may be able to generate a graph for your condition, but it would need to be scheduled.  It may take a few weeks.  Can you tell me about your time frame?

  • Kishi-San,

    Other than SOA curve, an alternative tool to assess the thermal performance is the WEBENCH thermal simulation.

    I intend to suggest starting with WEBENCH thermal simulation since the SOA curve also depends on the PCB dimension and stacking profile. The SOA curves shown in datasheet are collected based on EVM.

    You can find link to TPS546C23 WEBENCH simulation at the product page: www.ti.com/.../TPS546C23

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
