TPS65130 Design Spreadsheet

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65130

Could you find out for me if there is a design spreadsheet available for the TPS65130? I would like to play with some compensation values and get a feel for expected efficiencies. In particular I want to explore the potential impact of using a higher value inductor than recommended in the datasheet or having inductive filters downstream in order to minimize the ripple/noise getting to my sensitive circuitry.

  • Hello Padraic,

Sorry, there is no spreadsheet for this part. The part is partly internal compensated, therefore the impact of the external compensation components is limited.
In general I would not recommend to have an additional filter in the FB loop, most probable this will make the power supply instable. Adding a filter behind the point where the FB divider is connected and after the output capacitors is normally not a problem.
For the use of a higher indcutor value, I would recommend to take the EVM and test it with a load transient according this appnote: http://www.ti.com/litv/pdf/slva381

In general TPS65130 does not need a feedforward network and just needs a capacitor on the CP and CN pins. I would start to test the power supply with just this basic setup and just add resistors in the compensation network or a feedforward network on the feedback divider if needed.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
