BQ76930EVM: Accessible Pins?

Part Number: BQ76930EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76940

Hi,

From the provided schematics in the datasheet it is very difficult to tell which pins can be accessed by voltmeter probes, jumperwires, etc.

Are there any available connection points for things like: hooking a wire up to the CHG line? Can I use a voltmeter and access the VC# terminals? Is there any way to install my own thermistor?

Thank you!

  • Hi Conner,
The data sheet does not show test points. See the EVM user guide slvu925 accessible from the bq76930EVM tool folder. Most pins have test point pads available, see the schematic figures and silkscreen and assembly drawing. The thermistor is soldered to the board, it can be removed and a remote thermistor attached.
  • I see that, but it seems like most of the items on the board that I would assume are pads have been "x'ed" out? Are these the pads? Or am I looking in the wrong spot? -- The silkscreen seems to show the space for a lot of components, but nothing seems readily evident -- I very well may be looking over things. Thank you!

  • Hi Connor,
The red X and DNP indicate that the part is not installed. DNP stands for Do Not Populate. The pads are still on the board. For the test points it is easier to land a meter probe on the plated through hole. If you are using clip leads you may have preferred the test point. Components supporting the bq76940 are DNP.
  • Oh, alright. So, I can access all of the pads at these points. Thanks!
