LM3414: required designer

Part Number: LM3414
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMC555,

can any one design intensity control circuit for cree power led 3w

We want to develop new LED driver with intensity and battery management system. In which we need
1. to use  Li-on 3.7 V   18650 cell one or two as per requirement for backup of 5 hours.
2. circuit with battery level indicator that show the battery charging, battery percentage, low battery
and battery management system (over load protection and over discharge protection) such as power bank.
3. PWM base intensity control with knob on pcb mounted.
4. led we want to use cree xml family or equivalent 3v 3w or more.
5. want to use circuit two type At the time of charging and after charging.
6. need micro socket for charging. and soldering point for attach dc socket.
7. 3.2 mm jack for out put for led. and soldering point for attach LED through the wire.

  • Hello Rajeev,

It isn't the scope of this forum to do full designs, especially the mechanicals. But if you use 2 cell series Li-Ion then your minimum would be above 4.5V so the LM3414 could drive a 3V, 3W LED from that input range. Then you would need to generate the PWM and make it adjustable duty cycle that you could feed to the LM3414 to dim. You could use an LMC555 with a comparator and use the POT to adjust the duty cycle.

    Regards,
