BQ24073: bq24073 / Behavior of termination with periodical pulse load

Part Number: BQ24073

Hi,

At first, I know that the short-time pulse charge current is occurred at transition from supplement mode to charge mode as Fig 35 in datasheet. And now I'd like to ask about the behavior of termination with periodical pulse load. The pulse load is shorter than 25ms that is tDGL(TERM).

Question:

  • Is there possibility of no termination detection and safety timer expired under following condition? Please also refer attached image.

Setting and condition:

  • Input current setting is 500mA
  • Peak of pulse load is 600mA
  • Duration of pulse load is 10ms

  • Hello
As you pointed out the deglitch time is 25ms and the time between pulses 10ms, this will be a risk to charge termination.
Is the customer seeing problems with charge termination?
  • Hi Bill,

Yes, the customer is seeing the charging is not terminated under periodical pulse load.

I tried to duplicate this behavior by using EVM and no termination behavior can see as attached. So I understand that this is estimated behavior of bq2407x family.

    Best Regards,
