LM5050-1: Vin - Vout range

Dear team,

we are doing some worst case analysis for a LM5050-1 design. Our datasheet sown a Vin-Vout range of 60mV max over full temp range and 12 V Vin range.

Furthermore we show 175mV in case we go up to 75V Vin.

In case we wanted to design for guaranteed max gate voltage over full temp and high Vin, is our understanding correct that we have to design for 175mV Vin - Vout worst case then?

Hello Lutz,

60mV is max for LM5050-1-Q0 and 37mV is max for LM5050-1-Q1 at 12V and will not change much for higher Vin.

Worst case design needs to consider 60mV + Margin and not 175mV (this is huge).

However, note that LM5050-1 is a linear regulation controller and Gate voltage can be lower at low load currents, that is closer to Vth of the MOSFET.
