LM5145: Can LM5145 work a output current sink?

Part Number: LM5145

Dear support member,

My customer used LM5145.

I'd like to use a output current sink operation at LM5145.
Is there no problem?

Does Over Current limit protection work?

Specification condition
Vin:24V
Vout:4V
Fsw:236kHz
Isink:4ADC

Best regard.
Bob Lee.

  • Hi Bob,

the LM5145 is a voltage mode controller and can sink current in FPWM mode operation.

The over current limit will be controlled over the ILIM pin and is for short protection. It can be used with the RDSon sensing or with a shunt resistor to low side FET. You will find more recommendations in the LM5145 datasheet section 8.3.10 Current Sensing and Overcurrent Protection (ILIM) for both sensing methods.
