LMG1205: Having a Problem with LMG1205

Part Number: LMG1205

Hello,

I would like to work with GaN Fet and as its driver, I used LMG1205. This IC can provide 2 driver signals independently. Based on LMG 1205 data sheet, I designed the PCB board for this IC, but I can just get an output signal from the lower output. I have a problem with the higher output signal, which uses a bootstrap capacitor for isolating. I put .1 uF capacitor for the bootstrap capacitor, but I can't get a result. Could you please let me know how I can fix this problem.

Thanks,

Mohammad

  • Hello Mohammad,

Thank you for your interest in LMG1205. LMG1205 can have two PWMs working independently, but you have to have the bootstrap capacitor which needs to be charged up with some switching on your low side device. Please make sure that you follow the design on LMG1205 datasheet: www.ti.com/.../lmg1205.pdf, also please have some on-time for low-side switch to make sure that the bootstrap is charged.

For the best result of helping you with the design, would you be able to share your schematic with LMG1205 with us so we can further look into the design? Thanks!

    Best regards,
    Lixing
