UCC28220: UCC28220

Part Number: UCC28220

Hi,

I have a question in regards to the CNTRL PIN (8 or 9) of UCC28220 device.  I feel that the spec doesn't have enough info in regards to this pin.

Can you please provide more detail on what type of input and how CNTRL pin affects the OUTPUT (Duty Cycle)?

Thanks,

Noel

  • Hi -

The UCC28220 CTRL input sets the demand level at which the PWM comparators trip. The CTRL input is the output of an external error amplifier - see Fig 21 in the DS. If Vo is too low, the EA output increases and the PWM comparators trip at a higher current which corrects the initial low Vout condition. The PWM comparators compare the CTRL level with the current sense signal - to which a slope compensation ramp is added - the 500mV offset is there to avoid having to operate the comparators at 0V

The E/A output should be limited to the range 0V to 3.3V -

    Regards
    Colin
