BQ24161B: BGATE control

Part Number: BQ24161B

Hi,

I am a little bit confused with BGATE internal control mechanism. Is HZ_MODE Bit enough to control BGATE or CD pin has also to be driven ?

On one part of the spec about this feature it is stated that:

BGATE is ON under the following conditions:

1. No input supply connected.

2. HZ_MODE bit = 1

3. CD pin = 1

I assume that whole 3 conditions has to be completed to get BGATE asserted.

But the HZ_MODE Bit description says:

A low logic level (0) on this bit enables the IC and a high logic level (1) puts the IC in a low quiescent current state called high impedance mode. When in high impedance mode, the converter is off and the battery FET and BGATE are on.

Meaning that HZ_MODE Bit is enough to drive BGATE. Also none of the typical application example with external FET has CD signal connected.

Thanks for your answer,

Paul.
