BQ34Z100-G1 battery management Studio 1.3.80 detection problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100-G1, BQSTUDIO, EV2400

Hi,

I was following the order that was given in this file  I was dicharging the battery with 2100 mA but after some minutes I noticed that I lost detection of the battery and bq34z100-g1. I separated the battery from the device and measure its voltage but it was shown zero. Is there any one who know what happend for the battery and the device.

Thank you,

  • Hi Shir Hussain Ahmadi,

It appears you may have enabled HDQ mode as shown in Figure 9 in Section 3.8 of the document above. If so, your device is no longer communicating via I2C, but is instead using the HDQ port on the EVM. Please switch your cable to HDQ on the EVM and on the EV2300/EV2400. You should see the device in the left hand side of bqStudio after moving the wire.

HDQ is not recommended for use when configuring/programming the gauge because it is slower than I2C.

If your non-communication issue persists, please let me know.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
  • I was using and enabled I2c mode. I think the problem is not related to the communication mode. It can be related to the amount of discharging current. the discharging current was about 2100 mA.
  • Hi Shir Hussain Ahmadi,

Did your battery 'bottom out'? Please ensure that the rate is discharge is permissible for the cell by checking the battery datasheet.

Also, please ensure that the termination voltage for the battery is set properly so it will not overdischarge.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
