BQ50002: Recommneded packages for the Typical Application Schematic

Part Number: BQ50002
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ500511, , TIDA-00623, TIDA-00624

Hello, I'm working on a PCB with BQ50002 + BQ500511 and following the "Typical Application" schematic I was wondering about the recommended SMT packages for capacitors, resonant capacitors and resistors. I've read through the datasheet of both components but I don't seem to find a reference to the packages used in the "Layout Examples".

What are the recommended/used packages for this typical application of the transmitter?

On the other hand, in the same page of "Typical Application" schematic, what does the label TP22 and TP21 mean? It can be found in the connection between pin 8 from BQ50002 to pin 22 from BQ500511. There are other labels as well, such as, TP45, TP46, TP5, TP12.

Thanks,

Vicente

  • Hello
For layout and package info take a look at TI Reference Design TIDA-00623.

The Test Points (TP) listed on the Typical Application schematic are good TP to add to a design. They can be used for troubleshooting or debug.
The schematic is a spin of the EVM which had more for evaluation, only key ones were kept for this schematic.
  • Hello, thanks for replying.

I've read through the TIDA-00623 document but there are no specifications regarding the packages/cases used for resistors and capacitors in the layout design.

  • This info will be in the BOM that is on the TIDA-00624 product folder. Most resistors can be 0402. Do not recommend down sizing the capacitors.
Layout files are also on the product folder.
