LM5145: Enable LM5145 using GPIO from microcontroller

Part Number: LM5145

Hello,

For one of my applications, i would like to connect the EN/UVLO pin of the LM5145 to a microcontroller GPIO and not to the Vin. The Vin value is >24V

The output voltage of the GPIO is 3.3V. I am trying to calculate the voltage divider network for this setup.

What values should i be considering for Vin(on), Vin(off), Ven, I_hyst in order to design the voltage divider?

Thanks in advance,

Nikhil

  • Hello Nikhil,

The values in the DS are relating to figure 33 only. This means if you have a Resistor divider off of Vin. you have hysteresis to ensure the supply does not chatter. You do not have to implement hysteresis seeing as the use of the GPIO is a digital control as opposed to analog, there will be no chatter, so therefore you do not need to use the hysteresis function on the LM5145. Suggest connecting the Enable pin directly to the GPIO.

    Hope this helps?

    David.
  • Thanks David for your answer. Connecting directly would be a good solution.
