Hi,

I have a question about the schematic of the PMP11254 Reference Design.

Q1.What is the purpose of using R1, R2, R4, R5 and C1 of the transformer peripheral components?

Transformer（PartNumber　749022016）

Q2.If R1, R2, R4, R5, and C1 are not used, is there any problem?

Hi Seishin,

R1, R2, R4, R5 and C1 are Bob Smith Termination which is very common in PoE applications.

It is used to provide better EMC and lower emission. Also it has benefits on ESD protection for it can carry some surge current through it.

So I don't think you can remove these considering the whole system design.
