LM25085MYEVAL: Question of current equation

Part Number: LM25085MYEVAL

Hi team

I see below at datasheet.

If the value of Radj equals 680K, Current Limit has about 500A.

However, current consumption is only 1A.

Is that a problem?

Thanks,

Taemin

  • Hi Taemin,

The datasheet recommends using a resistor <3.1kOhm:

"To change the current limit threshold the value for R5 should be chosen to achieve 50 mV to 100 mV
across it at current limit, staying within the practical limitations of power dissipation and physical size of the
    resistor."

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Hi Katelyn

    Thank you for your help.

I can not find a statement to use 3.1K or less on the datasheet.

Can you tell where the phrase is located?

If you are talking about 2.1K, there is mention but you can not find anything to use less than that.

    Thanks,

    Taemin

  • Hi Taemin,

Please disregard my previous statement.  I looked into this again, and the important limitation is on Page 4 of the EVM document.  This specifies the limitation of the voltage across R5 as 50mV to 100mV.  The true limitations of Rsen is Rsen<100mV/(Isen).  This information is on Page 4 of the EVM document:
