TPS798-Q1: How to hundle the NC pin

Part Number: TPS798-Q1

Hi team,

I think that the NC pin should be left floating without connecting any node.

However, looking at the pattern layout example of the datasheet, it seems that the NC pin is connected to GND.

Should the NC pin of this device be positively connected to GND?

Best regards,

Tomoaki Yoshida

  • Hi Yoshida-san,

NC pins with no internal connection can be left floating or connect to GND.

For layout recommendations, we usually show NC pins connected to GND. This prevents the NC pin from floating to an arbitrary voltage, and also adds an additional thermal path from the package to the ground plane.
