BQ25703A: bq25703A / BAT pin quiescent current for 2cell application

Part Number: BQ25703A

Hi,

There is BAT pin quiescent current in Electrical Characteristics but it's only the case of VBAT=18V. Now the customer consider to use bq25703A for 2cell application, so can you give us the reference information of BAT pin quiescent current for 2cell application? The maximum value should be better but the typical value or some sample data should be enough.

Best Regards,

Satoshi / Japan Disty

  • The 2s application should have a similar number because the most internal circuit doesn't use 18V directly; The most internal circuit uses a LDO from the VBAT. So, 18V and 8V should not have a big difference. What the leakage current are they trying to meet?
  • Hi Wang,

Thank you for your response. They do not have the concrete target leakage current yet, but they would like to know if there is difference between 18V and 8V.

And regarding BAT pin quiescent current, do you have any idea to achieve lower leakage current than low power mode? For example turning off BATFET in addition to low power mode...

    Best Regards,
    Satoshi
  • It is hard to reduce the quiescent further because it would keep I2C active. BATFET is a PFET. The BATFET gate pull-down current should not count on the IC's quiescent.
