WEBENCH® Tools/UCC28700: 110-130 VAC to 5 VDC (@3 A) Transformer part?

Part Number: UCC28700
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP15002, UCC28740, UCC24636

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello,

I'm an electrical engineering student at Texas A&M and I'm attempting to use the TI WEBENCH designer to help me build a circuit to take 110-130 V AC to 5 V DC at 3 Amps. I've found a design schematic that I want to use, and have all the parts on the Bill of Materials picked out except for the transformer component T1. When I check that part it just says "PartNumber - custom, Manufacture - custom" and it's the only component I can't just order. Can anyone tell me what part number and manufacturer I can use for this component so I can complete the schematic, simulate, and build it?

Thank you very much.

  • Eric,

Thanks for the interest here. It's hard to find off the shelf xfmrs to meet the needs so we provide the parameters like Lm, turns ratios, frequency, and peak currents in each winding. Knowing these and that this is a DCM flyback, you should be able to get samples built up from xfmrs vendors like Renco, Wurth-Midcom, TDK, Coilcraft, etc. they don't need too much  basic info to support.

Alternatively, we do have reference designs you could copy like PMP15002 online. That should meet your needs.

If you search reference designs at TI.com/powerlab you may find other options. I believe we have a design using ucc28740 and ucc24636 if you prefer opto feedback.

    Regards

    John
