TPS63000: Issue During Transition between Boost to Buck Converter

Part Number: TPS63000
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2113,

I have a customer using the TPS2113 to route the supply voltages to the TPS63000. They first supply The TPS2113 with 3.3V. This supply is plugged in (manual insertion of Power supply connector). After about 60 to 120 seconds, 5V will also be plugged in through USB connector. The initial O/P of TPS2113 would be 3.3V .The means that the TPS63000 would have 3.3V at its input. When the other supply connector is inserted @ 5V . The O/P of the TPS2113 would switch to 5V. The TPS63000 would have 5V at its I/P .When this happens the customer sees a spike on Vout of the TPS63000. I understand that the part going through a transition from boost mode to buck mode. He has seen failures on Vout of the TPS63000 during this event.

So the Vout of the TPS63000 is 3.3V. The device must switch operational modes from a boost to a buck. Can this cause the spike that the customer has seen? Is there a transition time when changing modes during operation? If this is not the case, do you have any idea why the customer is seeing this?

Thanks for your help with this!
