LM350-N: Negative Use

In the uA7805 datasheet it says that with a floating negative voltage you can use the 7805 as a negative regulator by connecting its output to ground and using the ground side of the 7805 as the output. Would the same idea work for the LM317 LM350 type voltage regulator to be adjustable?

Hi ,

You should be able to apply the same application to the other devices as the theory of operation remains the same. Please keep in mind that we do have LDOs specifically designed for negative rails that were not available at the time the devices you reference were released. For example TPS7A33 is a 1 A negative voltage regulator.
