Charger recommendations for 6S battery

Part Number: BQ76930
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350, BQ76200,

Hi,

I'm building a BMS using bq76930, bq78350, bq76200 with an available header for the pack positive and negative and SMBus only (Balance lines and battery leads are connected internally to the IC's. It's 6s Lipo config with a pack voltage of 25.2V max. Initially I thought the 78350 would handle charging, but I see it just sends recommendations to specific charges over SMBus. So my questions are:

What recommended charging options can I implement externally or internally, OTS or design, to charge the pack?
How should I interface it with my ICs given?

Thank you,

JP

  • Hi JP,
The bq78350 does not charge the battery, it indicates the charging parameters for the state of the battery. If the charger malfunctions or an incorrect charger is connected, the protection features should activate to prevent abuse of the battery.
There are people more knowledgeable on chargers, I will change the title so it gets their attention.
