TPS53667: IMON pin connection

Part Number: TPS53667

TPS53667 IMON pin requires RIMON and CIMON.

Are these the must components for digital current monitor?  Is the floating NG?

And can we use this pin for analog current monitor by monitoring IMON pin voltage? Or should not we connect any components other than RIMON and CIMON?

Best Regards,
Kohei Sasaki

  • Hi,

You can not float IMON pin. This pis is a current source output. The value of current source is VIMON/RIMON= (Iout*5mohm)/35k. The VIMON voltage corresponding to Imax is 850mV, but when this pin is folating, VIMON will clamp to ~1.7V. Note the over current threshold is Imax*1.25 so if this pin is floating OCP will be triggered.

You can use this pin as analog current monitor, but please make sure you count the impedance of the measurement circuit and also make sure OCP will not be triggered.
