TPS65020 for OMAP 35x power up

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65020, OMAP3503, TPS65920

Hi,

Can TPS65020 be used to power up an OMAP3503? I am looking for a PMIC solution that will not need a 32KHz to start up.

Thanks,

Danny

  • Danny,

The 32 kHz clock is required by OMAP3503.  The bootloader uses the 32 kHz clock and one of the capture peripherals to determine the speed of your main OMAP clock (e.g. 19.2 MHz, 26 MHz, etc).  It then sets up PLLs accordingly.  That clock also gets used for the watchdog.

  • Brad, Yes, I understand the need of the 32KHz clock for the OMAP. My question is in regards to TPS65020. I want to use a PMIC that does not require a 32KHz clock. I will be providing a 32KHz to the OMAP processor, but do to my architecture I would like to find a PMIC that does not depend on a 32KHz to boot up. I came accross TPS65020 and since it does not require the 32KHz and seems to provide the voltage rails needed for the OMAP3503 I was wondering if I couls use it instead of using TPS65920.
