Hi,

The customer consider to use BQ27421-G1 in their system and they also consider to use two different pack that has similar specification but from different pack manufacture. Then please give your opinion for following question.

  1. The design capacity of these two are slightly difference, then which should be better if design capacity set to lower or higher design capacity?
  2. I guess that the first charge and discharge may has higher error if the design capacity is not match but the error will be corrected after second charge and discharge. Is my understand correct?

    It would be preferable if the customer creates two golden files which will be programmed on the chip depending on which battery is used.
    If that is not an option, as long as the cells are not drastically different (evaluate how close using gpcchem), then you can set the design capacity to that of the cell with the lesser capacity, and then make run the learning cycle process(discharge to empty, relax-charge to full, relax, discharge to empty) so the gauge learns each cell.
