Hi Peter,
The most common reason for the part to not autodetect is that it has gone to sleep while the bqStudio was starting. In development this may be due to a low cell voltage or mis-configuration of the gauge. Since you have a completed battery, refer to the manufacturer's instructions on how to wake up the battery and keep it awake.
Other things to check:
Be sure the bqStudio recognizes the EV2400. It should show the USB cable end dark in the top section of the dashboard on the left side with EV2400 and a version. You want version 0.18 which if your acquisition was recent it should be. Update is availble on the web if you have an older EV2400.
Be sure the SMBus cable is connected to the SMBus port of the EV2400 and is not misaligned or have damaged pins.
Be sure the battery mate end of the cable is properly attached.
Again check with the manufacturer's information on operating the battery. Since the battery manufacturer will have the battery "sealed", not all data will be available, but all the standard parameters should be available. You can see a list in the technical reference manual. Since it may not be known what version of bq78350 the manufacturer used until it autodetects, you may need to establish communications before knowing which manual to reference, but basic parameters should be the same.
You may need to look at the bus signals to be sure the part is communicating. The application report SMBus made Simple may be helpful.
Also be aware that if the battery design used the technique in application report Using the bq78350 figure 10, the part may not talk. Consult with the manufacturer.
David, Thank you for doing the procedure.
Hi, WM 5295
Thank you for giving a detailed explanation.
As a precaution I reconfirmed, but I can check the open circuit voltage of the battery and the STD SBS communication with the microcomputer will succeed.
Therefore, I judged that it is not in the state of sleep or ship.
Next is the version of EV2400, but this seems to be problematic.
In order to check the EV 2400 version, I started bqStudio with PC, EV 2400, battery connected.
Start => Gauge => Next => IE9B_0_05 - bq78350.bqz => Finish => OK
You can not check the version like the pasted image.
When connecting the EV 2400 for the first time to this machine, the standard function of the OS automatically searched and installed the device driver web. About driver installation, I have not done anything.
Does version 0.18 you mean refer to the version of the device driver?
Or is the EV 2400 firmware version?
Even if you point to any of the above, can you tell me the URL that can be downloaded?
I would like to solve this software problem before checking the other documents shown.
I beg your kindness.
Hi, WM5295,
Yes. The three LEDs of the EV2400 are lit.
The USB cable is connected to a specific one port.
If there is anything else to check, please tell me how.
When I checked the USB cable, I started bqStudio again just in case.
Since it was different from the previous one, it is described below.
Start => Gauge => Next => IE9B_0_05 - bq78350.bqz => Finish => OK
As in pasted images, version 0.18 of EV2400 was displayed.
However, after a few seconds all icons on the left, including EV 2400, have returned to an invalid state.
After that, I ended bqStudio and I tried it again and was able to see the same state.
