LM3423-Q1: We some question about LM3423-Q1.

Part Number: LM3423-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3423

Dear TI,

We are going to build DRL with the LM3423-Q1.

We some question about LM3423-Q1.

1. What is the input / output tolerance rate?
2. ERROR AMPLIFIER: Under what conditions does the malfunction detection function in abnormal voltage occur?
Ex) ERROR AMPLIFIER Detecting malfunction when it falls below MIN value.
3. What is the operating current? (-1 continuous, how many mA?)

4. Can I remove the cap(C31) when using the auto recovery function?

5. How do I handle N.C pins?

I need your help.

Thank you.

  • Hello BJ,

    1. I'm guessing you mean LED current tolerance? If so it depends on the current sense voltage you set. The error amp offsets can be +/-7mV, so if you use a Vsense of 100mV it will be +/-7%, if you use 200mV it will be +/-3.5%.

    2. FLT is tripped when the LED current reaches 30% above its regulation value using the LED current high comparator.

    3. The input operating current is the quiescent current (2mA typ) plus the gate drive current. The gate drive current depends on the FET and switching frequency. It will equal Fsw*Qg(tot).

    4. Yes.

    5. I am not sure I understand. The LM3423 does not have any NC pins. Are you referring to something else?

    Thanks,

    Clint

  • Hi Clint,

    Thank you for your support.

Unused pin are # 9 (FLT) pin.
    => How do I handle N.C pins?

    Thanks,
  • Hello BJ,

If you are not going to use FLT then you can just tie it to ground.

    Regards,

    Clint
