TPS61194-Q1: TPS61194-Q1 schematic check

Part Number: TPS61194-Q1

Dear

our client was design TPS61194-Q1 as below chart,  vout =9V, it`s  can work?

ARD_MAIN_BOARD_REVE _ 06 Panel .pdf

If any suggestion, Please advise me.

Thanks,

Best regards,

Lawrence.

  • Hi Lawrence,

What is the range of Vin (min - typ - max)?
What is the range of Vout (min - typ -max)?
Is Vin pin rail separated from input to boost due to Vout being lower than 12V? or is there other reasons for this?

One thing to note is that we do not recommend using boost input voltage below 4.5V as device is not optimized for this. If only reason for having Vin as low as 3.9V instead of 12V is due to output voltage level then perhaps looking into SEPIC topology would be a better option.
  • Dear Sir:

What is the range of Vin (min - typ - max)?-->3.6V, 3.9V, 4.7V
What is the range of Vout (min - typ -max)?-->8.1V, 9V, 10.2V
Is Vin pin rail separated from input to boost due to Vout being lower than 12V? or is there other reasons for this? -->yes, cause Vout is lower than 12V.

Is 4.5V Vin for IC working voltage or gate drive of MOSFET?
  • Hello,

Yes, Vin pin is used for gate drive and also for LDO analog block.

Vin input range is too low for spec of device. As mentioned before we do not recommend using the device outside the normal operating range so one option would be to increase Vin to have min Vin above 4.5V threshold or a second option is to use 12V and change to SEPIC topology converter instead.

    Hope this helps.

  • Dear Sir:

    Thank you for the information.
I would like to know if I separate input voltage to Vin(12V) and boost(3.9V), can it work normally?

    thanks.
    Best regards,
  • Hello,

There is no issue with having separate Vin and boost input but no validation of the device has been done below 4.5V, so we cannot guarantee proper operation. The LEDs will probably turn on but as far as the performance of the part, we cannot say since it's operating outside of spec.
