TPS23861: 2 port operation but always sense 4 port

Hi,

i am using TPS23861PW as a 2 port POE, but controller always sense 4 port.

this will cause confusion.

Is there any way to turn off the port is not using?

Hi，

Please refer to TPS23861 datasheet section 8.2.2 on how to connect unused ports. You can also take a look at TIDA00465 which is TPS23861 single port reference design. Thanks.

Hi Penny,

I only see sense pin connect to gnd at the reference design, can i also connect drain to GND?

when not using auto mode, is writing the port n mode register a must have?

Hi,

DRAINx pins can be grounded or left open (leaving open may slightly reduce power consumption). If you don't want to use auto mode, you have to configure registers through I2C. Thanks.
