TPS4H160-Q1: current limiter overcurrent protection & short circuit protection

Part Number: TPS4H160-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC555

hello,

I use TPS4H160B-Q1, 40V, 160mOhm, Quad Channel smart high side switch & TPS27S100B, 40V, 80mOhm, single channel high side switch for Over Current and Short circuit protection, but i found that this chip cant get proper result that i want.

Requirement:

1). Input Voltage - 24V/10A

2). Output Voltage - 24V/1A each Channel

3). Over Current protection

4). Short Circuit protection

5). When short Circuit occurs in the device for any kind of the situation, than i want to Switch off the power for switch off my device, but whenever short circuit is removed automatically, than at a time that device is capable of provide me 24V/1A power a an output automatically not manually.

We use our device at long height like tower, so in case of water/weather in rainy time over device is in short circuit for short time. that's why our team not capable of solving that kind of problem each and every time at long height.

So, provide me complete circuit diagram and proper solution for that problem.

thanks,

  • Hello Verma,

We had previous discussion about this design. I understood you are looking for configuration to shut off the channel on short circuit event and recovering when the load is normal. The current limit is regulated and the device stands alone does not have a feature to shut off the channel and recovers. The INx should be toggled and this needs external logic such as micro controller. I hope this makes it clear for you and let me know for further support.

  • Hello,

Can you suggest me any ic which have Following features also....

Once current reaches the threshold, the IC turns off after the 20.7ms (typ) blanking time and stays off during the retry period. The IC latches off after the blanking time, and the IC limits the current continuously

  • Hello,
You may use TLC555 timer and program the delay to 20.7mS. Please check the TLC555 timer and see if it fits the shut off function.
