Please recommend the best charger IC for my needs

Hello guys,

I would like you to help me find the optimal charger for my current project. We are using Li-Ion 200mAh battery to supply our circuitry and we would like to have some battery charger IC with load sharing possibility built-in. Charging current can go up 250mA. The part should be low leakage and small package.

I would like to hear from you about the appropriate Battery Gauge IC that is suitable for using with the charger IC you will propose.

Hi Bojan,

By load sharing do you mean the ability to provide load current to an external system, with any remaining current going to charge the battery? What is your input power source, 5V only?

Hi Jef,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I think that this property of the charger is called Dynamic power path management (DPPM).
Power source comes from micro USB - 5V only.

Bojan,

If a linear stand-alone charger works for you, then I recommend bq24230 in QFN package. If you have a host, capable of I2C communication and need additional power rails, then bq25120A in WCSP package might be an option.

For a higher efficiency (less heat), you might consider a switching charger like bq25606 in QFN.
