BQ78Z100: BQ51013B, BQ24075TRGTR, LM2731XMFX

Part Number: BQ78Z100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51013B,

Hello,

I would like to have your advice about my design.

I'm designing a Lipo charger using Qi charger (BQ51013B). I'm using a battery management BQ24075TRGTR to power my system and recharge my battery at the same time.

I would like to place a fuel gauge (BQ78Z100) between battery and Power Patch management, to monitor the battery capacity, but the design begin to be big and expensive. isn't too overkill? is it possible to have a better integrated solution?

Thanks you.

  • Hi Amaury,
There are a number of reasons why those functions aren't typically integrated. First, they are all optimally achieved with very different silicon process technologies and can't easily be put on a single chip without significant tradeoffs. Secondly, there are many variations of specs and features for different ICs performing those functions to give flexibility to cover many applications and combinations. Selecting the right combination for integration that would satisfy a large number of customers is a difficult decision.
